former version from Military.com is easier to read. The SC backcountry is given as 2-15/sq mi. Assuming that there were 4 of militia age per sq.mi., half on each side, to gather 1000 patriot milita as for Kings Mountain, Blackstocks, and Cowpens, that would equate to an area 22.4 miles square (500 sq mi).
